Pic request. hooks and guards. 69-70

Anyone have a good pic of a 69-70 with a chrome bumper, short guards, and tow hooks? Want to see if it looks like too much and where the guards would be placed. Thanks

Re: Pic request. hooks and guards. 69-70

No picture of that, but IMO the hooks don't play into any cluttered look. They are down there with the frame and dark, just hardware, not trim. The question is the guards themselves. They add on to what's there and give another look. That's where the decision is for me, do I add on or leave alone? I've run both on '72s and square bodies and like the look. Those were standards on all my trucks, among other things.

Where would you mount them, out where you drill the holes or in the 71/72 position at the frame? On my K2500 I decided the 71/72 guards compete with the GMC grille design. I have a pair of 67-70s I'm thinking to mount in the 71/72 position...maybe. Might make a winch bumper, too!

Here is a picture of my 1969 with chrome bumper, tow hooks and tall bumper guards. In my opinion it is not cluttered even with the bigger guards. The smaller guards should be even more understated if that is the look you are going for.

Thanks for the pics, that gives me an idea of what to expect. Is there any lift in your truck?

^^^ That's where the early guards are "supposed to" go. Is that what you were thinking? I put them in the same place as the latter ones. It takes a little "fitting".

Re: Pic request. hooks and guards. 69-70

I always thought centered under the marker lights on 69-70 was "correct". That was were I put them on my old 69 big block truck.

Re: Pic request. hooks and guards. 69-70

There is an article on the orange shortbox in Classic Trucks Magazine from a few years ago and I have the magazine at home. The owner of this truck has had it for along time ,like since the 70's, and gathered NOS parts for years and years before restoring it. I'm thinking he probably bought the bumper guards NOS and followed the mounting instructions in the box.
