Scare bird brake parts?

Has anyone used Scarebird Brake Products?
I looked at their site, and for what I need (just the rotors and calipers), their kit might be the way to go.
The kit has the rotors, calipers, and the brackets to mount them.
The price is good and replacement parts are standard ones.
Any comments are welcomed

I like that they offer just the brakes, and not the whole PB system.
I've got everything (booster, MC, pro valve, etc.) else, so I didn't want to buy what I didn't need.

I used their parts for a front disc conversion on my caddy, good stuff and no problems. It's been 5 years and I would use them again.

I'll add to the positives as I have a kit on my 64 impala. Thinking of this route on my 70.

Will their front disc brake work with a lowered truck? I assume so! But I don't want to guess. Previous owner installed drop spindles on the front but I am unsure of which ones.

The rims matter, these wouldn't matter.

Well then, it looks like it's time to order my disc brakes!
They say that good things come to those who wait, and I'll be doing a DB conversion for about $250 total.

Please report back here when you do and list the parts you needed including what master cylinder/combo valve you had to upgrade too.
Please also discuss the change out of the front brake lines and hoses and what was needed there as well.

I just ordered my brackets and getting parts next week. Including the brackets, all disc parts, master cylinder AND replacing upper and lower ball joints while apart, I'll be into the disc brake conversion $550.

You cannot beat that AND you get 3/4 ton front braking (when staying 6-lug).

Have fun with your $900 ECE or CPP kit without a master.

I'll do a write-up when I do the work.

just remember the bearing sleeve is already in the rotor i was trying to pound what came with the bearing into the rotor on top of the one that is in there... thats probably a rookie mistake but I sure made it

Like clay68c10, I used a Scarebird kit/setup for an older Cadillac(1940) I'm restoring and found that their parts were good quality and fit correct for what they had advertised. I was actually expecting to do the all too familiar routine of having to adapt or modify and alter to make the parts fit but they went right on and fit perfect without any trouble at all. One of the few times I can say that it actually worked without too much trouble.

So pardon my ignorance, but I went to their site and couldnt find parts for a c10. I want to convert to rear disc on my 72, and dont know if the brackets Is that the same thing as a "midsize"

This setup really isn't that much less expensive than buying the replacement spindles. You still need calipers/rotors/pads/hoses/bearings. Of course if you are staying 6 lug you need to get the slightly more expensive 6 lug rotors. I paid $215 delivered for the spindles and $129 delivered for the 6 lug rotors. I then bought my bearings, calipers, hoses, pads and a new master/booster combo. I also spent $50 delivered for the backing plates, which won't work with the scarebird...

Do you have any experience with rear conversion for 5 lug?

I didn't catch what year truck you have though. Make sure you need the narrower 30.5 inch axles...

edit: you should probably get some wheel studs too...not sure which ones.
