Another Lowering Question

Hi All,

I am looking at this kit to lower my stock c20 - which combo should I go with if I want to go as low as possible without notching the frame and effecting the ride too much. I have not done the disc brake conversion which is why I havent gone the drop spindle route. Please post pics if you got'em!

Thanks!

Re: Another Lowering Question

I like a 3/5" drop on most trucks. I believe a 3/5 would be about as low as most would want without having to notch IMO. Any lowering is going to affect ride some but most will like the ride equally as good if not better. Just make sure you get springs that work with your truck especially if you plan to tow any with it.

How does it effect the ride? What do you mean most will like it better? Have you done this? If so, do you have pics of the 3/5" drop?

Thanks!

Re: Another Lowering Question

I have 3/5 springs on my truck paired with spindles and blocks. The ride is pretty nice. It was a little stiff in the rear but after I put the pinion angle shims in, it got the diff off of my sway bar and softened the ride quite a bit.

Is that 3" drop springs in front with 2.5" drop spindles?
And are the rear pinion angle shims drop type?

Cause that's my plan 3" springs in front with my 2.5" spindles - 5" springs in rear with 2" drop angle wedges.

Yep, 2.5 modular spindles from CPP and a 2" block in the rear. The pinion angle shims are from my 4wd life and we notched them to fit the u bolts. Not sure what a drop type shim is.

Same thing as a 2" drop block with the shim angle machined in, CPP makes them:

Re: Another Lowering Question

You should be safe with a 3/5 drop. You could also probably get away with a 4 inch drop in the front. I think these truck look good with a little bit of a rake so I would go with a 4/4 or 4/5 drop. Other companies sell 4 inch front drop springs. I think. Before you spend your money on lowering the truck with coils it might be a good idea to save for the drop spindles. It is a better way of lowering and it will make your truck safer.
