6 spd on a 327
Does anyone know what would be involved in putting a t56 from a 2001 camaro in a 71 c10 with a 327 in it?

The link is the first thing that comes up in a google search. It's an older post but provides methods for reusing stock mechanical clutch linkages and clutch components as long as the spline count is correct. If you're starting with no original clutch components in the truck or just want to go hydraulic on the clutch I'd go with the SBC Gen1 to LS1 T56 specific bellhousing from QuickTime. No adapter plates or other nonsense needed. |

Its involved , make sure in advance whether you have a t56 from an ls1 , or lt1 , huge differences , like input shaft length , also be aware the lt1 components will not retrofit , a special flywheel will be required , your engine has a 2 piece rear seal , the lt1 has a one piece . Get the number off your transmission tag , and call american powertrain , they will lead you in the right direction .

Re: 6 spd on a 327
The reason I posted "also be aware the lt1 components will not retrofit" is because many would assume small block to small block , easy peasy , but the differences in rear seals and weighted vs non weighted flywheels , requires a special flywheel . I had a t56 in a 68 camaro , luckily it had a one piece rear main [newer motor] so this was not an issue , but my buddy has a 32 ford with an older sbc , and 96 t56 from a camaro , he had alot of issues .

Re: 6 spd on a 327
Anyone have any pics of where the shifter will be in relation to where the seat sits? I thought about this due to the length of the trans. Also does anyone know how much of if any will have to be cut out of the tunnel to make it fit?
