used axel or new?

Ok so I found a 69' 12 bolt rear end that is currently 6 lug and i believe 30 spline. I want 5 lug though. Is it better/cheaper to get redrilled and checked or just better off buying new. My truck I have now is a 64

Re: used axel or new?

Open it up and see what condition it is first. Then make your decision.

Re: used axel or new?

I put a set of Moser axels in mine to get rid of the 6 lug...check out their website as I think they have several options for your truck.

Re: used axel or new?

Pull the axles and check the wheel bearing surface. If they are worn very much, you will need new axles. There is no sense in putting money into worn axles.
