More Gas Gauge Sender Issues
A few months ago, I was real happy with myself when I fixed a leak on the sender float, and got my gauge working again. Well, about two weeks ago, the gauge started acting up again. Even with a full tank, it would not read over a quarter.
Figuring that my soldering job on the float had failed, I took it out again, and the float was just fine. I then took the cover off the rheostat, and found that it must have been a wire wrapped unit, when it was new, but that 48 years of working in a harsh environment had caused the wire to disintegrate. So, I will have to buy a new replacement unit. Any brand to avoid? or, conversely, what is the best replacement unit to look for?
