Question Diverter Ball Q -- Felt

Replacing rotted OEM ducts, and I have removed the old felt strips that go on each side of the diverter (vent) balls. The felts were originally held in place by a stick-on backing. The new felts do not have that backing. What type of adhesive do I need to secure the felt strips to the plastic A/C outlet bezels?

As always, thanks for the help, I do appreciate it!

Re: Diverter Ball Q -- Felt

Hmmm... my reproductions had a peel-and-stick adhesive.

I would suggest a 3M adhesive, perhaps even their General Purpose 77 or Super 90. You might also consider a weatherstripping adhesive or something more intended for "fabric".

Re: Diverter Ball Q -- Felt

I'd either return them (and buy the type with adhesive strips already present) or use a teeny tiny bit of 3M wx strip adhesive. The ball helps retain it - but it has to be secured somehow. I would not use a big long strip of 2 sided tape or a lot of sealant. The one's I've bought in the past had adhesive strips on the back also - very thin ones.

Re: Diverter Ball Q -- Felt

I'd rather not hassle with returning them for such a minor issue, also the turnaround time. I'll see about picking up some adhesive locally. Thanks for the replies!
