Welcome from another 50th owner. Look for the 551 Gold/Ivory paint code in the glove box. Also, if it is a pickup, it will have gold/parchmant interior. Burbs, Panels and vans had fawn interior. It also must be a Custom or CST with trim and chrome bumpers.
From what you have posted so far..... It sounds like it is a 50th.

All most every 50th I have seen came with a 327/turbo 400, but that was not a requirement. From what I understand they could be had with any engine/trans cobination. I think most dealers loaded them up a little.
It is a shame that you dont have the documentation to support your 50th. Have you checked under the seat for the build sheet?

Check the cab for traces of ivory/off-white paint below the trim if still installed. You might also check between the bed along the bottom of the cab for traces of the same color. The grill would have been white also. Better yet post some pics and let the experts decide. I have seen an original 50th with a 6cyl 3 speed for sale in a local town.

stepside
Shouldn't be side trim or lower paint color on stepside. It does sound like 50th though with belts and interior. Did 50th versions have the deluxe interior with padded/vinyl door panels?

Welcome from ND.
I thought someone else here with a 50th stepside said their truck lacked trim and lower white paint. I'm not sure though. Is yours a factory step side? We'd love to see some pictures!

There's a gold 67-68 chevy short step with white grill sitting down the street from my office. I've been meaning to knock on the door and ask about. If I can remember to take my digital camera to work tomorrow I'll snap some pics.

Basicly, if it has a seat with these colors, you can be pretty darned sure you have a 50th on your hands. (pick ups only, as pointed out, burbs had another int color) The seat doesn't need to be buckets, but the color combo is what you're looking for.
I have personally driven a 307/3 speed verified all original 50th. If you pull the seat out of your truck and carefully flip it over so that the frame is exposed, look for a 35 year old piece of paper. If nothing is found, you can pull the carbet and the gas tank looking, but trucks seem to have most of them in the seat cuision. This piece of paper is the build sheet. It will show all the factory options, along with codes for the assembly line workers, and the dealership that recieved it. Invaluable for documenting your ride. |
