light green tint on windshield?

I need a windshield and was reading the description of it as a light green tint, is that what these trucks normally had?

The GM tint was called Soft-Ray. It had a Light Green tint to it.

Re: light green tint on windshield?

If you had factory A/C, you automatically got Soft-Ray. Not all trucks had Soft-Ray tint, though. If you hold a piece of white paper behind your glass it will have a greenish tint to it if it's Soft-Ray. If it's original it will also say Soft-Ray on the "bug", the safety mark near the bottom driver's side of the glass. If it's aftermarket it will usually just say tinted.

Re: light green tint on windshield?

There are three types I've seen:

Factory clean
Factory green AC tint
Aftermarket grey tint

This last one I've seen listed strikes me as odd, you sure wouldn't want to combine it with green sides, but if you had clear sides and back I guess it might make a little sense.

The grey is the same as what all new cars come with today, so most of the trucks I've seen it with have the clear glass with the modern gray style tint (I think most people refer to it as a black tint, as it looks a lot more black than gray).

I'm going with all Soft-Ray on my C10. My 65 mustang still has all of its factory green tint glass from 1965, pretty cool.

A quick search brought this up:

Re: light green tint on windshield?

Clear was standard, Soft Ray was an option, and if truck got A/C Soft Ray was part of that option.

The grey is the industry providing what they offer now as a replacement. I would never use that glass. Not only is the tint wrong, but you want restoration quality glass anyway, to assure proper thickness
