Edelbrock Water Pump
Is any one using an Edelbrock Water Pump on their stock with A/C small block 350 C10. They are pricey and advertise as high volume. I know Edelbrock is very good quality stuff but is this Water Pump overkill on my truck. Its a short water pump and I guess thats what I would have on my truck.

Re: Edelbrock Water Pump
Check out flow kooler also, they have the high efficiency impellers as well.

Re: Edelbrock Water Pump
That's how all my trucks' gauges have read with stock water pump, unless something was wrong.

Re: Edelbrock Water Pump
Yes. I use one and cannot recall going much beyond 180 even idling in 90+ humid weather.
If you don't want to pay that price look at Stewart Components they have several offerings and specialize ONLY in COOLING. Water pump isn't the only factor but this is such a critical and common problem area, I always upgrade here. Timing, tune, mods and gearing have a big influence on heat/cooling also - as I'm sure you know. I also run a high quality American made Robert Shaw 180 thermostat and a good cap on my stock 3 core radiator. Mechanical fan, no clutch, factory shroud and my engine is well modified. Stewart Components or Edelbrock are the only ones I'd use. Every thing else is low tolerance, low grade - including virtually all the other aluminum ones along with weiand. There are some vendors out there claiming to have modified stock versions but low quality is low quality. An improved pitch impeller in a chinese/mexican casting with low build tolerances is just as liable to fail. Stewart makes several levels including an iron one up to level 3 aluminum. They like their own, but will tell you that the edelbrock is a very good piece comparable to their level 3. You may well get by forever with a cheap one but I wouldn't do it. |

Re: Edelbrock Water Pump
What are the specs on these aftermarket pumps? I looked at Stewart pumps and saw no GPM numbers. That's what makes the difference, and to me the most important thing to base a decision on.
