Look what I scored today
It's a real nice day so I left work a couple hours early. Decided to go to a local junkyard known for having "old stuff". In the back corner there were a few old trucks and I spotted a 65, it was picked over pretty well with just the frame and gutted out cab left even the doors were gone. But lo and behold sitting on the floor board were these:
$30 lighter and a smile on my face as I left the junk yard. |

Re: Look what I scored today
Score! Common factory parts are now getting harder and harder to find. Well worth the $30!

Re: Look what I scored today
Good fortune! I love those things. I buy up a single or a set whenever I can. Living in an agriculture based valley, I do still see these around. Not in junk yards though, those days are gone.
My best luck has always been finding a truck parked somewhere and locating the owner. If its been parked for a long time most people will sell them to you for a low price. Not really knowing their true value, and seeing them as a non-integral part of the truck, I've had luck getting them for a pretty good price. Crazy how hard they are to find now, even on Ebay. ![]() |

Re: Look what I scored today
even though mine are stainless they have the F_O_R_D script on the bottom, Don't know if Chevy had factory stainless, I bought 2 sets at a swap meet for a whopping $18.00 bucks.....that'll never happen again....but I love them...it's ole school for me....
