I like that.
Cost? I guess if I have to ask I can't afford it. Adapting to transmission? |

advance adapters
http://www.4wdmechanix.com/advance-a...sion-for-jeep/ the price that I heard was in the $22,000.00 range. that is for a complete new eng with everything for a revamp if you read the data with it. doesn't sound like a tirekicker special. ron |

Re: interesting diesel for 60-66 light duty
looks cool. May be a nice option for someone wanting a modern diesel engine for an older truck.
But in my case and I dont think I'm alone in this, I wanted a diesel to get away from all the electronics. Hence my mid 90's 6bt. I'm too old for all this computer cra.........err...... I mean computer modernization. (be nice mark ). I want something to run forever. Even if the world ends in nuclear devastation or the zombies come to get me, my truck will still run. But for those that dont mind the computer cra.... I mean modernization that looks like it would take all the guesswork out of the installation and give a turn key (or as close as you'll get for something like this) option for those wanting diesel power. According to fourwheeler.com's write up. They say it should be in the 8000-10000 price range and the one they put into bone stock jeep TJ it got 30mpg. I'd call that a decent swap.

I agree, for someone who wants to modernize their old truck that is a sweet way to go! Comes with a power steering pump, 30 mpg, and a small package. Not bad!

Re: interesting diesel for 60-66 light duty
I'm thinking Cummins Turbo Diesel from a Chevrolet 2500 would do the trick.

Re: interesting diesel for 60-66 light duty
seems like at 22k you are just buying the 30mpg up front, even a 4.3 v6 swap (similar hp and tq) getting 12mpg would take about 12 years to cost more in gas. I bet there are some jeep JKbros that buy it though, the local craigslist is full of brand new suspension and wheels taken off brand new jeeps in favor of expensive lift kits and black wheels.

Re: interesting diesel for 60-66 light duty
I found it hard to do my LSx swap for just the mpg savings. I got most everything pretty reasonable and was still into it ~$3k, but I'm glad I did it.
That engine would be great if the cost was a little bit lower to start with, you still need adapters and accessories right?

Re: interesting diesel for 60-66 light duty
A few months ago I was talking to a friend of mine who works at Cummins and he said these weren't released for US sales then. But the expected retail price was going to be $13-14k for the turn key engine set up. I saw one in a Jeep last Sunday but the owner was in a hurry and had no time for me.

Do you know something I do not? I have never seen a Cummins in a Chevrolet 2500 from the factory.

There is a guy in Corona I bought a seat from trying to put a Duramax in a 66 GMC pickup. Hope he's successful.
