What's it worth? 1980 K30 3+3 Dually

Ok, I found one that's ok, it's a little rough from the pictures, but looks like no rust. 454, Th400, NP 205, A/C, Cruise. I can add pictures if you guys think it's necessary, but really curious what you would pay? It's located in Denver, Colorado, so I can't look at it in person. Guy said he could deliver it to my door for $7k.

Pictures would help, but a 4x4 with a big block in 1980? I would pay 7k if it was a clean truck with everything as it should be

Sounds a little high...but different parts of the us have different pricing..I gave 3500 for my 81 2wd in very good stored indoors shape.. (belonged to a local fire dept) with 22000 verified miles...

Re: What's it worth? 1980 K30 3+3 Dually

He had it originally listed for 10.5k, then down to 9500. Then someone flagged it I guess. I posted an ad looking for a k30 a long time ago, he recently emailed me sayin he " thought about selling his crew cab and wanted me to make him an offer". Lol. I replied that I seen it for sale (so much for thinking about it) and for what it was listed for and I was no where near interested. I politely told him that he probably wouldn't be getting half of his asking price. But then again if someone wants it bad enough you never know. After seeing the pics I wouldn't pay over 3500 for it. My opinion but there are quite a few out there a lot nice for not much more. Again my .02.

If the guys name is Travis Karford or something similar, sounds like the same thing he sent me as I had asked before.

To me the price seems high unless it is a pristine survivor IMO.

I could be wrong but I thought the biggest motor you could get in a 4x4 was a 400 small block?

Re: What's it worth? 1980 K30 3+3 Dually

I'm not sure what his name was. I just thought it was funny how he said he was "Considering" selling it and I had seen it on craigslist for over a month. lol

Ryan... far from pristine!!!!

Gmachinz.. I think your correct. 81 or 82 I thought was first year for 454.

I would LOVE to restore an 80' model crew cab, its one of my favorite years. But its a 3500-4500 truck . And I'm sure its rougher than the pics dictate.

Re: What's it worth? 1980 K30 3+3 Dually

81 was the first year a 454 was offered in a 4x. But not the suburban or blazer. 1992 was the first year for the 454 in the 'burb. 400 sb was discontinued in 82 (i think)

Re: What's it worth? 1980 K30 3+3 Dually

No-1980 WAS the last year for the 400 small block. All in all they ran from 1970-80. All 70-72 400s I believe were 4-bolt mains. From 73-on Im fairly certain GM went strictly with 2-bolt mains. I know from my earlier engine building days the 509 block was the hot ticket for a stout high nickel block.

Thanks for those comparisons 57NAPCO.
Here are the pictures I was sent, but from these and what you guys are saying, I'm thinking he's high. There's a few more, but you get the idea.

Re: What's it worth? 1980 K30 3+3 Dually

That's pretty rough looking. I see it has the standard burn the truck to the ground fuel filter on it, along with the complimentary hose draped over the exhaust manifold.
Other pics about the same? Any under carriage shots?

The New Mexico truck has potential if you remove the lift that ruins the carrying capacity of the truck

Any body panel on that truck that doesn't have a dent or damage on it?

Re: What's it worth? 1980 K30 3+3 Dually

That price seems really high to me for the condition its in. I may be low rust, but its pretty beat up on the inside and outside. You would be looking at a lot of work and replacement parts to get it back to nice condition. Maybe already looked into this, but with the age that big block may be due for a rebuild as well.

That is why I posted this question in the first place, I knew when it was posted before for around $10k he was nuts, but I thought maybe a $7k delivered or $6k for the truck and $1k delivered wasn't bad, I guess the delivery fee isn't bad, but the price is, maybe I should see if he'll take $5k delivered, that would be $4k for the truck.

Yeah...for comparison...I picked up my 87 CC dually - 454/TH400, Arizona truck so truly zero rust, no body issues at all (other than the sun baked paint) with 86K miles for $3500. It is in WAY better shape than that.

If you are willing to pay that kind of money, find a cleaner truck. $4K seems a little closer to a realistic price for that truck, but if $7K is in your budget I think you would be further ahead to find a nicer one.

Trucks in Denver are stupidly overpriced. Junk trucks here would still get top dollar out there...cool truck but not for that money.
