Help with Oil Filter

Refresh my memory. The truck we just bought has the canister filter on it. What do I need to do change from the old canister type oil filter to a spin on ? It’s been awhile since I've seen the canister type.

Thanks
Steve

TransDapt makes a good conversion one. IMO DO NOT get the Mr.Gasket ones. I have tried two of them and they always leaked on me.
The TranDapt one will take a ford style filter.

the dealership even sells the setups to convert over (if you can find a person there that knows how to look them up)

I got mine from the Chevy dealer. Find the oldest parts man there and ask him.

P.S. If you want to get rid of your old oil pressure bypass valve assembly I'd be interested in it. I want to convert back to cannister. My old cannister oil bypass was cracked when I rebuilt the engine so I converted it to spin-on for the time being.
