350 that looks old school
Does anyone have pics of a 350 that looks "old school" with Ram Horns or any other parts? I going to a 350 next year but want it to look like a 283 or 327.
Thanks |

Re: 350 that looks old school
I just took everything from my 'Burb's original 327 and bolted it onto the '78 010 350 that went in, including the 4G and points dizzy.

You got any blown out gaskets yet Alex?
With no way of relieving crankcase pressure you'll have some soon. |

Re: 350 that looks old school
Considering it was last installed in a new vehicle 15yrs ago, I think any 350 small block looks old school. But for what you want, a 350 is no different externally then a 283. Bolt on whatever accessorys you want.

Re: 350 that looks old school
I have a 4 bbl intake with the filler tube, that is not vented, but am running an inline pvc valve so that should be ok? O r should I look for a vented filler tube?

Re: 350 that looks old school
Ha - I figured somebody would point that out.
I'm at peace with the fuel setup. Never known of one of these filters to burst, on several different types of equipment. Since the '78 block doesn't have the accommodation for the draft tube at the back of the block, and at the time I couldn't spend the money for a set of PCV valve covers and wasn't going to cut mine, I got a Corvette breather tube with the fitting in it and just routed a piece of rubber tube down over the back of the engine. No blown seals, just some seepage out the valve covers. Even though the original engines didn't have PCV I may set up a hidden system in the long run - no doubt that'll keep the gunk off the outside of the engine a lot better.

You need air in to mix with the crankcase fumes to be pulled out with the pcv. THe pcv and the air breather should be on opposite sides or ends of the motor. |

Re: 350 that looks old school
On mine? Check valve. It was in there when I got it so I left it.

Re: 350 that looks old school
Here's a spruced up 383 (same block as yours) with the 2 1/2 Ram Horn manifolds, ceramic coated by Caps in Fresno CA. Old School carb, etc.
BTW...these rams horns will flow more then enough for a 283 or even most streetable 327's and 350's. Be sure to get the ones with the 2 1/2" center dump... Tom
