Need help with gas leaking from inlet
Finally rebuilt my carb to remedy my non-functioning accelerator pump. Previously, I had sealed up the threads on the filter fitting with teflon tape to get it to stop leaking. I didn't have the fitting gasket. My rebuild kit didn't come with one, but I grabbed one from another kit. It leaks, a lot. I even tried an AC o ring with no luck.
I don't have the spring for behind the filter, or the little gasket that goes in front of the filter inside the fitting. Should I just go ahead and reseal it with teflon? I know teflon is not a great choice on those threads, but I can't think of anything else to seal it up. |

If you're talking quadrajet, then look here for a self tapping replacement. They cut new threads that seals up the inlet.
Just measure yours to get the right one. https://quadrajetparts.com/quadrajet...c6c74d5886ba5e |

Re: Need help with gas leaking from inlet
Guess I should have been more specific and it might not have been moved from 60-66. It is a 65 230 with a model B single barrel.
I pulled the filter, did a thicker wrap of teflon and got the drip to stop. Tomorrow, I'll put an inline filter between the pump and carb. I wonder if the thread sealer that goes on head bolts would be a better choice than the teflon? I'm tempted to just JB Weld it in there... |

Dig deeper!
Maybe an extended thread one would work. https://quadrajetparts.com/inlet-fit...c6c74d5886ba5e |

Re: Need help with gas leaking from inlet
I went digging through my parts. I still have the complete intake/carb from a 71 350. It's a 2GC, so I'm bringing that fitting with me tomorrow to check to see if it works and seals. I checked my thread sealer tube, it's ok for fuel, so might try that, too!

Teflon or thread sealers won't work. Gasoline eats right though them and will only seal temporarily. Best thing to do is to see if you can get a tap as mentioned above or maybe find another used single barrel like yours for parts. One person you can call to see if they have anything to fix the problem is Mike's Carburetor Parts.
