Weird Engine Mounting?

I've never been able to figure this out and wondered if anyone else ran into this and has an answer. About 5 years ago I bought my 71 already swapped with a 5.7. I didn't know what I was getting into and bought it from a trust fund kid who paid some idiot gobs of money to frankenfuk this thing together. I've always had issues getting intakes pipes to fit before hitting the radiator shroud because the engine is so forward mounted. It really sucks because I can't run a normal 90degree off the throttle body. I have to use this super ugly sprectre lsx intake that goes straight up and back over the intake manifold. I think they used street and performance ls swap mounts but every time I see other swaps the engine sits way farther back than mine. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem. I'm going to test a single 16" electric fan without a shroud so I can run a intake piping like I want to get some colder air into the motor. I have a RnD radiator that works amazing out here in Phoenix so I don't think it'll be an issue.

LS1 is a 5.7
Sounds like youve got a cluster there..if its that bad your best bet may be to pull it all out and start over...but agreed with above..need pics..

Re: Weird Engine Mounting?

What transmission is in it? That can be a factor as well.

Re: Weird Engine Mounting?

Could be they made the engine fit the driveshaft instead of the other way around. But as the others have said, we need pics to really tell what's going on.
