Lug nuts

I need to replace a lug nut, or get all new ones, and wanted to find out if the ones currently on the wheels are correct. It's for a 1970 C20. My mechanic had to replace one while working on the brakes so now one wheel looks mismatched. Any guidance would be appreciated.

You are just missing one of the plastic lug nuts for those 1988-up wheels and caps. I just hope he used a 9/16 lug nut. These take a special lug nut that you can thread the plastic caps over. The 1988- trucks are metric sized vs. our old trucks 9/16-18 on 3/4 tons-1 tons.

Are there threads on the outside of the outlier lug nut? If so, just the plastic cap is missing. If there are no threads on the outside you'll need a dual thread (sometimes called conversion) lug nut as well as the plastic cap. The plastic cap screws onto the lug nut. Both should be available on eBay. If your truck has not been converted to front disc brakes, all your wheel studs are probably still 1/2". If converted, at least the fronts may be 9/16".

OhCookie says that he is working on a 1970 C20, so if original yet his truck has 1/2"-20 studs/nuts. The larger 9/16"-18 stud/nuts came in 71 on the C/K-20's with the introduction of front disc brakes. Mel

My truck is original and still has the drum brakes, recently updated but still drum. BTW, I'm a she and not a he.

Thank you for the great information, now I have a much better idea of what is on my truck.
