Dana 60 for my 1970 k20? want a rebuild
hello folks,
My dana 60 on my 1970 k2500 4x4 has seen better days, I am restoring my truck and want to purchase a Dana 60 rear end with disc brakes thats been completely re-done. Im looking for high gears (Prob 3.54) due to a Turbo 350. Does anyone know who I can have do this for me for a reasonable price and ship it to California. I want to pull it off a pallet and bolt it right in, bleed the brakes and drive off into the sunset. My old rear end was on a mud bog truck and needs everything. I think it will be much cheaper to just pony up and get a new or one thats clean. |

Call and talk with Mike Starkebaum at 4x4Land in Topeka, KS. 785-862-8008
He has racks of rear differentials from all makes and models that he can help you figure out what will work. They do lots of Jeeps, from mudslingers to rock crawlers, but also recently rebuilt the transmission and T-Case for our 70 GMC K20. Had I known about him BEFORE we rebuilt our rear diff, we would have saved money as well as had a newer setup when done. The 1970 K20's appear to be hen's teeth on almost everything. On ours, the D60 had the spiders blown out of it and the yahoo that had it before us welded the center pin into the differential carrier, so we had to do a new carrier and everything. So we put in a Detroit Locker and new R&P. We have more in the rear axle alone than I bought the truck for. 4x4 Land didn't do that rear end. I wish they would have.

Do you know of any 4x4 shops up in your area? For instance: I'm down in SoCal, there's a 4x4 shop a few miles from me, they picked a 6 lug, 14 bolt semi floater rear axle off an old junker and bolted it right up for me on my Yukon. I don't remember how much it cost me - it was a long time ago - but maybe checking with some local shops is an option too.
