Folding bench seat will not fold.

Anyone else encounter this problem. I have a 90 GMC 2500 with a single cab and while you can get it to fold once every Leap year, I would really like to know if there is some trick to it.

There was no owner's manual that came with the truck so perhaps someone in here may know.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Folding bench seat will not fold.

Slide the seat forward. Try to look at the bottom/end of each side of the seat back, and see if any upholstery material has caught in the locking/ latches.

Re: Folding bench seat will not fold.

Your seat might have an inertia brake built in. The driver's seat in my '89 worked like that. When you hit the brakes it keeps the seat from folding forward and turning you into a pretzel. Pull the seat forward a bit to relax the lock in the seat and I'm sure it will fold forward for you with a simple tug.

Re: Folding bench seat will not fold.

my 1990 has a lever you have to pull to get it to fold forward, im always going behind it for stuff. you can usually just feel the bottom back corner where the top meets the bottom on the driverside, you just kinda pull it upward as you pull the seat forward
