serpentine belt conversion

It is possible convert the belt to serpentine swaping serpentine systems?
Swaping is probably less expensive than buyin a set.
My truck don't have air conditioner,

Yes, there are set-ups from early vortecs that can be used.

You could use the front of an L31 5.7 (Vortec) built from 1996 to 2002.

I took mine off a 96 gmc at ecology in Chula Vista. Make sure you take every bolt you remove. Because there is a mixture of standard and metric. When I went looking after the fact I found some no longer available commercially so I went back and removed what I needed from another vehicle.

You can also use the serpentine belt setup from the '88 & later TBI trucks (pre-vortec) I like these setups because it's easier to remove the driver's valve cover and it places the A/C compressor on the pass side. (not an issue with you) But, the larger CS144 alternator fits the Vortecs. Some guys have used GM car setups also. I'm not familiar with these.

Both setups require a reverse rotation water pump, Get one for a TBI motor, the vortec 5.7 doesn't have a bypass and the fan clutch screws on to the water pump instead of using the 4 bolts/studs that hold the pulley on. You will need a reverse rotation fan & clutch also. The stock fans off of these years (88-99) are too large (19") to fit the stock shroud on 67-72 trucks. You need an 18" reverse rotation fan if you want to use the stock shroud. I used a Derale 17918 fan. Maybe someone here knows a stock GM reverse fan that is 18"?

You will also need the power steering pump that matches your serp drive setup. The serpentine pulley presses on to the new pumps, your stock pump has a key way. You will need to swap your power steering pump high pressure fitting from your old pump into the new one (US vs metric threads)

I've read that the passenger side mounted compressor, the little stubby one was not that reliable. That's why I went the way I did. Oh FYI, no I don't have documentation or proof and I can't defend other's opinions I found online. Just passing along what I've read so FWIW.

Got mine off of a 94 5.7 from a suburban and it fits real nicely on my 76 sb400.
Like Smitty said; grab EVERYTHING off of the front of the block. You can always go to the parts store later and start replaceing the tired components. You will need a special pulley puller for the power steering pump pulley because the pump has to come out of the bracket before you can unbolt the bracket from the block.Please note;
the water pump is counter clock wise rotating.( its meant to be spun backwards)
If your not going to use air conditioning, there is an idler pull that goes in place of the freon compressor. I believe summit carries them. Show us some pix when you get it done. good luck.

Smitty and Wizo are SO SO correct. My $50 craigslist deal didn't come the the number 3 which Chevy called a engine lift bracket or something like that before they discontinued it. Thankfully I found one on ebay about a month later.

Make sure if you use the bigger alternator to check wiring, if it is old and brittle, it will get hot.

I got my setup off a 98 k1500. Only problem is with the EVO (Electronic Variable Orifice) power steering pump. Just swapped to a 96. As for the bolts, all block bolts are SAE with the rest being metric.

Hi folks: it took a little while to post again.
Thank you for all of your help. At first I wanted to see if is possible a serpentine belt but with less accesories because I don have ac, only water pump,alt and power stering and the engine at my truck has the PS and ALT at the same side of the engine(d side). And I would like to move the ALT to the passengers side, and if is possible use a serpentine belt for CRANK-ALT-WATERPUMP and other serpentine for PS-CRANK. And also I never told you that I'm in a process of built a performance engine and I want give it a nice looking, that's why I'm taking my time.
Now I want to show you the progress of my new engine and I would appreciarte as always all of your help.
