Changing GMC grill to Chevy Grill on 70 Chevy

I just bought a '70 C10 LWB. It currently has a GMC grill and core support on it. I'm going to change this to a Chevy grill and I'm looking for any suggestions to make this as easy as possible.

HELP...!!!!!

You'll probably need 1969-1970 C10 front fenders as well as a core support. GMC used the same front fenders and core support from 1968-1972.

Re: Changing GMC grill to Chevy Grill on 70 Chevy

The truck is actually a '70 Chevy, so it already has the Chevy fenders. The PO had the front grill and core support stolen off the truck and went back with GMC support and grill at some point b4 I purchased it. I've read on some posts that I can remove the two inner buckets and that should be close to all is needed...

If you remove the entire headlight bucket bracket from the gmc you can install the bucket itself to the core support from a Chevrolet by drilling the square holes for the adjuster screws.

The basic stamping is the same on both core supports, its best to have a chevy one even if rusty on hand for reference

what about the headlights themselves? the GMC headlights are smaller than the Chevy headlights. will the headlight size cause a problem?

You will need the headlight bracket with bucket, the spring and 2 adjuster bolt a from the chevy core support. The picture shows the bracket. The bucket springs and adj. bolts are missing

What is the condition of the GMC grille? What are your plans for it?

I have a 70 GMC and need a grille (but not a radiator support).

Re: Changing GMC grill to Chevy Grill on 70 Chevy

I have done it before and the best was is to assemble The Whole front end and grill with the headlight Brackets loose, then center headlights in grill and tack weld buckets to core support. Hard to get them centered unless done that way

$167 from truck and car shop for a new Chevy core support sounds like a deal.
