Will a worn o2 sensor trip the check engine light?
Hello,
Looking to do some preventative maintenance on my 85' K10 with the feedback carb. I'm wondering if the o2 sensor would even trip the CEL in this obd1 truck if it was in need of replacement. Currently I have no check engine lights but since this is an older truck I'm not sure if the CEL is more of a dummy light or if it actually trips when something is out of range or spec. Any noticeable benefit of putting in a new o2 sensor with this carb truck? Thanks |

Re: Will a worn o2 sensor trip the check engine light?
I change my 02 sensor every 5yrs just because, and the CEL does work as advertised, if I sit idling for any extended time it trips the CEL, give it a little gas and it goes out, don't really notice any change when it's replaced but i'll change it after a good tuneup prior to a smog check. Last time I changed it I took the truck in and it failed, didn't give it enough time on the road for the computer and o2 sensor to marry up, took it in the next day after driving it on a short road trip and it passed with flying colors.
