Re: Inner roof help.
Yes you can. Is the cab still bolted to the frame? It's a lot easier to install if you can roll the cab on its firewall to replace. That way your not working overhead.

Re: Inner roof help.
My truck is a c20 and the previous owner didn't do a good job patching the holes on top of the roof. The inner roof panel rusted out so now I need to replace it. I found a donor roof but I think that my water drip is a lot better than the donor one. what I really what to find out is if the rear part of the inner roof panel has spot welds or is it glue to the inner window panel. Sorry I don't know what it's call. Yes the cab is bolted to the frame

Re: Inner roof help.
I've never seen the inner roof taken out. You can click on my '67 build thread below and see some pics of what it looks like with the outer roof taken off. There were a lot of spot welds...

Re: Inner roof help.
The rear headliner seam is spot welded.
Cutting out the headliner is not bad at all, 2 hour or so to cut all the spot welds, I have done at least 2 of them, pics probably in my crew cab build thread |

Re: Inner roof help.
At least 20% of the spot welds just aren't attached or barely attached, I insert a screwdriver by each spot weld and pry before drilling, saves some drilling, they also make a spot weld splitting tool, like a knife that would be helpful

The Assembly Manual shows all of the spotwelds. Here are a couple of shots that show the areas you are wondering about. LockDoc

Re: Inner roof help.
It took a little bit of time but I removed the inner roof. Thanks for the info. I am going to try and replace the inner roof panel tomorrow.

Re: Inner roof help.
Is attached with spot welds. I did the spot welds around the windshield frame first then the doors and then the back. I used a putting knife then a chisel and the a cutting disc. It was easy. I hope putting the other one in is the same way.

Re: Inner roof help.
It was easy, the back of the inner roof panel has weld spots so the only thing that I can do is add some seamseal.
