Photobucket.com is now wanting to charge for me to be able to post my pictures on here....
what's everyone using or are you paying some kind of fee...I've been using them for yrs now and no problems but as of july 1st there's been some changes...and now on my build page on here my pictures are not even visible...it's like they have them blocked...

Re: pictures
It worked for me. I did get a pop up asking me if I wanted to add 100mb of space for 9.99 a month. I just Xed it out.

Re: pictures
Yep and photobucket is adding so many more adds it's impossible to work with. I seem to remember imageshack going that route years ago, people just moved.

Goodbye Photobucket! Hello Instagram!!!! Do they really think people are going to pay the kind of money they want for 3rd party hosting of their photos.

Re: pictures
I switched to Flickr a long time ago after Photobucket first started messing with things. I think I pay for the premium membership but I like it a lot better!

Re: pictures
One of the more annoying factors for those of us that use the site on a long term basis is that once you eventually leave your photo-hosting service, you also leave a bunch of blank holes in old threads that become picture-less all of a sudden. Direct post via attachment is by far the best method, so if being a member is required to enable that feature, it's worth it (for the rest of us) (if not, then attach away I say!) - just my personal opinion.

Re: pictures
Ya but that thread wasn't in "our" section of the forum where we wanted it!

Re: pictures
I'm a paying member of this forum and just created a few albums to rebuilt my threads that this PB ordeal has screwed up. I plan to hotlink my album pics into my threads so I can locate text around the pics instead of having a short story at the top, and a pile of pics at the bottom of the post. If at some point I am no longer a paying member, will those pics/hotlinks also be junk, or are the pics/links still valid in the background?

Re: pictures
LockDoc,
So I just spent WAY too much time creating albums under my profile, uploading pics, and then recreating my build thread with almost 70 pics. Everything shows up great for me, seems like members are able to see everything and post on the thread, but when i send the thread to any friends that are interested in what I'm doing, but not a member of the forum, none of the pics show up. Is that normal?? If that's the case, that is marginally better than PB killing all the links!

I'm not sure about that one. I have always just uploaded my pictures directly to my posts on here and as far as I know they can be seen by anyone. People may not be able to see them because they don't have access to your albums because they are not members, not sure if that is how it works or not.... Sorry I can't be more help. LockDoc

Re: pictures
I was JUST going to start a thread. Seems pictures I've added some time ago off Facebook are disappearing. For what it's worth, I copied a link from one and it reads "URL signature expired". I'll read through this thread, see if there's a reasonable alternative.
Technology is great and all, and I did it for a living, but the drawbacks lead to a lot of frustration.

Re: pictures
I'll try and upload some pics here later. I had a bunch on photobucket but I'll let that account die now.
The ads there were insane and they had no way to organize your pics. Heck with them. |
