Question ?'s about 67 stepside

I'm looking at a 67 8 foot stepside to buy, i'm don't know much about 67-72 chevys. it's in good shape w/ a straight 6 & 4 speed on the floor. 2wd and small rear window. Does all of this sound original for that year? and what is a "Granny gear" or "Granny trans." ? thanks

Yes, your description sounds 67 correct. It should not have side marker lights either. 67 was the last/only year the small window was offered in light duty trucks.

A granny low is a 4 speed with a really low geared 1st. It is good for pulling stumps. For normal driving you use 2nd gear to start in.

I"ve got one of those, but mine is a three on the tree. I absolutely love it! some people dislike this bed style, but I get a lot of compliments on my truck. I like the stepsides, but I often haul sheet goods, and the 8 ft bed is nice for that. I hadn't driven one of these before I got mine, and they are realy great trucks. They ride nice, handle nice, and you can get EVERY part practically, and for not bad $$.

I just bought one also, although 3 on the tree. Plus, I'm in the NE, so there is TONS of rust thrown in for free

Good luck!

Welcome to the board from W. Tennessee. I just bought a 71 long step (no pics yet, pick-up Saturday). Good luck with the ride.
