TV--Iron Resurrection 1970 C10 Rebuild

this week the "Iron Resurrection" show on velocity channel are re-building a 1970 C10.

I watched that episode. The only thing they kept from the original 70 C10 was the hood and they modified that. I mean EVERYTHING else was new, fenders, core support, compete bed, custom new frame, new front suspension, new rear end, doors. The only thing else used was an old rusty cab from another truck and a motor/trans out of a rolled Camaro.

I wouldn't call that a 'rebuild'. That's a new truck.

Well, it was once built, then it was disassembled and reassembled. Splitting hairs and definitions of words doesn't take anything away from the build. Theres plenty of classics, kit cars, fiberglass hot rods running around assembled from new parts, and I'd take any of them when compared to new vehicles.

Yes, it was a bit disappointing at first, I was looking forward to watching a build but it didn't happen. I did not see where the first cab could not have been saved, but who am I to say

Was cool to see them doing a c10 ... I like that show .. good group of guys . yea they used a lot of aftermarket panels lol but at the end of the day that was one bad ass truck 👍🏼

I'm not knocking the quality of the truck or the final product. I'd love to have it. I agree it was a great build. But you missing my point. How can it be a rebuild when the ONLY part from the original truck used was the hood?

They made it pretty clear it wasn't a "rebuild" pretty much every step of the way ... it was a "build" for sure ..... they did "rebuild" a cab and seemed to do a good job ... I like what joe Martin did w the drip rail . Shorty seemed to nail the corners and rockers ..... the hood . Well I'm partial to my 72 bull nose 👍🏼

I'll have to check on that episode for the next airing. Didn't really care much for the show to start with, but I like the bland gal, she's nice, sometimes she talks too much though....

The way they had it optioned out, that chassis was probably 20K+. ZL1 motor. It's got to be an absolute blast to drive.

Truck was just gorgeous.

I would want a 6 speed manual, other than that, I'd drive the piss out of it as is.

Look at half of the build threads on this forum, especially those poor guys up north, sometimes all they're left with is a cab by the time they're done replacing rusty panels.

Perhaps a poor choice of words (rebuild), I saw only the first few minutes and set it to record. So I am guessing despite the aftermarket panels they still had to fix an existing cab from some C10 (even if it wasn't the first one they acquired).

Anyway it was some TV about our trucks, that was the original reason for the post.

I haven't seen the episode. But let me get this straight, guys are complaining that they did too much work to the truck? So what if they used aftermarket panels, the reality is that originals are getting too hard to find in usable shape. Either that or they are just priced too high.

As far as I'm concerned, another truck back on the road is a good thing. No matter what style it is. Whether it's modified or stock it doesn't matter to me.

You have to watch it to understand it. They pulled the truck in and pushed it back out. Basically they said they were building the dudes truck and used none of it other than the hood. But, it is none of ours and the owner was happy so I am happy.

They also shaved everything and used those $$ one piece taillights that eliminate the back up light.

Basically, they picked up a guys truck, it actually looked pretty good, but when you looked at it close every panel was wavy, looked to have a lot of filler, and there also appeared to be a lot of painted over hidden rust. The cab was pretty bad, even the drip rails were rotten.

In terms of body work and hours, it's literally cheaper to order a new body. This is one of the reasons I picked up a decent shortbed box for $300, the body shop rust repair and straightening hours would have exceeded the cost of using a new bed for that owner.

I deleted it from my DVR, but what was funny is I'm pretty sure they ordered 68-72 bedsides... then shaved all the markers. Could have been an owner change after they were ordered, but thought it was funny.

I saw most of the episode, and when I saw 95% new sheet metal, I thought anyone with a ton of cash can do that!

Damn, I wish I had that much cash to "rebuild" my truck!

Realistically, All they needed was a title and vin tag...

Did anyone notice they were looking "all over" Texas for a cab. When the guy they bought the engine from had one outside his shop. It could have been bad or not for sale,but I was still yelling at the screen.

If I'm not mistaken, these types of shows generate revenue from parts suppliers by using and plugging the parts they use in the builds, verbally or in the credits. The shows are basically a platform for parts manufacturer advertisement. Without that revenue, the show would be short lived. So it benefits the show to use as much aftermarket stuff as they can possibly get advertisement dollars for.
