Best way to remove original rubber brake lines from back of hubs?
I blew a rear rubber brake hose on my '68. The ones that come off of your hub. Mine are pretty rusted. I have a set of line wrenched. I believe the fitting to be a 5/8". Is it best to saturate them in something Like PB Blaster, some kind of penatrating oil for a few days? I tried to brake one end loose, very gently, and I stopped, as it didn't feel good. If anyone has had any exwwith this time of situationfeel free to chime in please!

I cut mine and slid a box end wrench over the line to get it off.

That is a good idea. Use a 6 point! I recently had the same problem but did not go at it with enough patience. One thing lead to another and I eventually found myself replacing the entire set of brake lines!

Certainly soaking them in some kind of penetrant will help. Bump them a little back and forth and soak them some more can help.

If the fitting gets stripped with the box-end wrench, you can always pull out the trusty vise grips. You are not reusing the line/fitting, so no need to keep it pretty.

A deep socket will work too, preferably a 6 point

Well, I just twisted the hard line thats on the back of the rubber line. Looks like I'll be replacing that whole line now. Lucky me....

Before you order new hard lines...make sure the bleed nipples in your wheel cylinders are able to be opened so you can bleed the brakes...
I am a bit OCD on brakes...if it was mine I would pull the rear drums, then replace the rear brake shoes, cylinders and hard lines...plus the flex line... Little trick I learned a ling time ago...especially with old brake lines...tighten the nipple on the pipe first, then back it off using lots of spray like WD-40.
