New to me 70 swb stepside...my 1st post

First of all I'd like to thank everyone for the wealth of knowledge youve created within this site. Ive lurked here for over 5 years and appreciate all the tech tips, hints and help you all provide.. ive owned 4 or 5 swb 67-72s since highschool and am a die hard 67-72 guy. I wanted to share a few details and pics of my latest find.
Its a 1970 stepside in its mostly original 512 met. green, protecto plate and owners manual.... Only evidence of bodywork/repaint is pass side lower cab corner lower rear corner of door. Truck has been in storage ondoors since 1981 and i have all the documentation and storage reciepts
Zero zero rust... ive counted 12 dings and only 1/2 of the dings have a mark near them...
Truck was Born an i6 3 ott...previous owner swapped in a very strong 377/th400 and crappy ratchet shifter in 1979-80 before it was squirreled away, other than the guy i bought it from buffing the paint out it was untouched i wish it wasnt buffed out but nothing i can do about that... ive done moatly maintenance relayed repairs so far and have no plans of paint or body(unless i fond a non spare driver fender)...working on getting pics uploaded sorry for the long post and thanks again for all the years of info..

Great looking truck. I'm a fellow short stepper as well with a '69 in it's original silver paint.

i own a 70 SWB stepside, originally in the same color as yours. I wish mine were in a nice condition as yours. I too would want to swap that spare tire fender out.

Thanks for all the kind words, if you guys have any pics of the 512 green on your trucks im trying to decide on just being happy with a solid rust free truck that i know is original even though i really dont like the green... theyre only original once but the running gear is all street rod-drag truck and the paint has really nice patina but in a what i feel is an unpopular color...please share any ideas or your opinions on what youd do if you were me, found a picture my wife took of the stepper next to my k5 before the k5 moved away...

When I got this blazer
I too thought I didn't like the color, and was going to change to a more traditional color(it's actually med green with same interior color as yours)
It already had been resprayed once, and they took all the trim off
Once I got around to re-doing it. I kept it close to stock.
People always comment on it
I now really dig the odd colors, on these trucks
So many were repainted to more popular colors over the last 40 years
It is ok, that it is not the norm
I would actually rather it have a paint job with patina like yours
Instead of new paint
I had to do the same thing with this stepside
Paint was to crappy to keep
But I went to stock color
The dump was already resprayed when I got it

There you go, now you can look at the 3 funky shades of green
4 if you include yours
(That actually look more like teal/turquoise to me)
Yours and the blazer are actually poly/metalflake
The other two do not have metalflake in them

Your truck is perfect the way it sits, in my opinion!

I agree with Chevyland. I think your truck looks good in that color. The only thing I would try to change is spare tire fender if you could match paint close enough.

Nice ride! I would keep the original paint/patina on the truck. You don't see too many with the original paint in that good of shape.

I appreciate it, i do like the color and it is growing on me... the thought of repainting it turns my stomach i wish you guys could ride in the truck, smell the old truck smells and open and close the doors these trucks have a soul and i dont think it would feel the same if it was taken apart and pit back together... special thanks to chevyland your trucks and appreciation of them is an inspiration and really makes me appreciate my truck the way it is i bought it as a toy and find myself driving it to work every day ...

Re: New to me 70 swb stepside...my 1st post

That is a nice old original body! Did you sell off the K5? That looked like a pretty nice rig as well.
That truck SPID reminds me of my 72' ford (Yea, FORD!!) I love the "stripper" model vehicles, how basic the trucks could be back in the day.
Your truck came from the factory with a heavy duty clutch, springs and radiator. other than the tire carrier that was IT!! love it.

if you look at the SPID on a modern chevy its ridiculous... i think my tahoe has like 45 codes. they got so out of hand today that you don't get descriptions, just a huge list of 3 digit codes lol...

Man I wish I grew up in the 'good ol days'

Welcome, very nice rig you have there .

I suggest waiting a while before re painting it, that color might well grow on you and they're only original once .

Welcome aboard. Nice truck you have there. Judging by the number of "Post your XXXX green truck" threads there are more than a few of us that think green is a positive addition to a truck. And in my world the only thing wrong with your fender is it is missing the spare.
