What i've done to the truck so far
-removed rusty core support and inner fenders -installed power steering gear -trying to install pump -new motor mounts -new oil pump and oil pan had big leak -rebuilt HEI with petronix kit -installed new intake manifold gaskets -installed new Edelbrock performer carb This is not s restoration attempt just trying to make a dependable driver for now. I'm gathering tools and parts for a frame off in the next couple of years. I may keep as daily driver and find a 67 short step for project.

I looked at mine (on a 350zz3 block)with power steering and the top bracket does not mount off the waterpump, and it connects to the backside of the pump. This being a replacement motor setup by a previous owner I'm not sure what all was used to do it but I would look into moving or replacing the upper bracket , especially if the original belt isn't tight yet or if you plan to replace it use a longer one to move the pump top to the outboard side more. It would seem very possible but may have issues with reading the correct fluid level or leaking out the top. I can try to get pictures soon as I have other issues that are causing me troubles and have the front part of the motor exposed, which makes it easier to get a shot of it.Let me know if you want some pics I'll try to get some of it.

Also from looking at the pics could you use what looks like alternate mounting hole to move it down and out. It looks like more holes at the 9oclock position andthat would put it lower and out more and the uppshould be able to stay where it is just swivel at bit and slide out to acccomodate the new lower/O/B position. Just some thoughts.

You have the wrong bracket to mount the pump. Here is a pic of the correct one.

Nope I don't have that bracket, guess I'll look on the parts board for one. I got the bracket in the pic from CPP come to find out from them in their tech article they even say it won't work. Nice considering its the one listed for a 69 chevy.

I dont have those correct brackets either. I had a set of brackets that are "off th wall to me" when I got my 72 GMC. I have never seen them so thats why. One of them mounts to the left side manifold bolts to the left of cylinders 2 and 4. Could it be that it was to have the Alternator mounted on left side of engine? B/C I used a different motor where it mounts to the right side. Does anyone have a set of brackets (power Steering) that are correct and want to sell?
