Introduction

Hello,

My name is Shane White and I'm in the process of finally getting my inherited truck up and running. As part of the process I'm trying to learn as much about it as possible. Any information any of you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

The truck is a '71 that was custom ordered by my grandfather the year I was born. It is the pre-cursor to the Camper Special and was ordered to haul his old camper around. He ordered it with the BB 402 and the TH-400. It's got the extended bed and the extra leaf pack. It's badged as a Custom 20. From what I can tell he didn't order it with AC, but it did have the larger alternator.

For the past 12 years it's been stored in the mountains in Colorado and I'm currently getting the tranny rebuilt. Eventually I want to replace the ignition system with an electronic ignition, but currently it lopes the way a great old V8 should.

Re: Introduction

Just one crappy pic from pulling it out of storage last year. My father wrecked it before he passed and the fender is a scrapyard replacement. The body is rough and there are things that need to be repaired/replaced but the motor runs smooth. Once the tranny is done I think it'll be ready for daily driving... as long as I keep the fluids topped off!
