Steering wheel colors?

So in the 67-72 model runs how did they determine the color of the steering wheels? Were they always the color of the truck in the first two years?

Did you just get black in the later years and a colored wheel was optional?

If you had a tilt column did you automatically get a black steering wheel to match the color of the column?

Re: Steering wheel colors?

Here is my .002...
Wheel color matched the seat color/door panels except wheel was black if it had a tilt column then the wheel was black.

67-8 the steering wheel matched the interior paint color since those years the interior was painted the same color as the upholstery.

Now the dash pad color is what is real confusing...matched the seat color unless a Highlander package and on those if tilt wheel the dash was usually black.

Re: Steering wheel colors?

Steering wheel always matched column color no matter what, who, where. I agree steering wheels were all matched to interior trim color, unless the truck had tilt. Then the wheel and column are black. All the '72s with tilt that I have owned had a black dash pad.
