1969 3 speed clutch fork keeper spring
Im working on a 69 gmc with 3 on the tree and inline 250,
and I am currently waiting on a keeper spring for my clutch fork to ship. my question is; if i installed the clutch fork and bell housing without the keeper spring, would it really make a difference? its definitely possible, but it seems like there is plenty of force to hold it all together with out the keeper. thanks for the insight guys |

Define 'keeper spring' or better yet a pic or link.

Re: 1969 3 speed clutch fork keeper spring
I assume you mean the retainer spring in the release fork...
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=152 32-6105.... This should be in place to retain the release fork on the pivot ball...it is installed in the release fork before it is pushed onto the pivot...bit of high pressure grease on the pivot ball first... The return spring on the linkage can pull the fork off of the pivot ball, without the retainer in place... |

alright thanks! we will see what happens, its already said and done. I read else where someone forgot it on an old dodge and nothing happened. the motors not staying in forever, this was just to get back on the road for now. |
