Front fender side emblem questions.
1). Where does one find those nuts that hold the emblems on?
2). What are those nuts called? 3). Was there any cushion material between the emblems and the fender? Thanks! |

Re: Front fender side emblem questions.
1) Find at most Corvette and other types of restoration parts places... also lots of hardware stores. For example:
http://www.parts123.com/corvettecent...050f&ukey=5625 https://www.mcmaster.com/#spring-speed-nuts/=18sb3ap 2) Commonly called emblem nuts, flanged push nuts, pal nuts, speed nuts, etc. 3) No cushion material used. |

Re: Front fender side emblem questions.
Assembling mine now. If you have the fenders off, do it then - if not, pull the inner fenders (wheel wells). If you have the outer fenders on, shimmed - gaps set, etc. you don't want to mess with those!

Re: Front fender side emblem questions.
Inner fenders are off.
I don't think I can put the "Custom 10" emblems on without removing the fenders. Ugh.....and they went on so easily! |

Re: Front fender side emblem questions.
i too would recommend a corvette vendor to locate correct nuts
how ever I just purchased a set of custom C-10 front fender emblems for my 72 from Classic Parts, and those nuts came with the chrome. Very nice chrome bits too |

Re: Front fender side emblem questions.
I have found speed nuts on my old Chevy Trucks that the PO packed the cavity with caulk for a better hold. Have not copied it yet.

Getting these "emblem nuts" is one of the last things for me to do now......I am going to try and "inject" blue nail polish into the "Custom/10" emblem, picked it out to match the front grill emblem color. Need to get this done so I can get the truck back together! |

Re: Front fender side emblem questions.
Use barrel clips so you don't have to remove the fenders , You get the size that fits the emblem studs . the clips are installed into the hole in the fender from the outside and then the emblem studs are pushed into the clips ,It's easy , they are cheap and it works .
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/s...SABEgKlVPD_BwE they are on ebay with an assorted pack cheap, napa, most auto part stores |

Re: Front fender side emblem questions.
You might try your local Lowes. Mine has a surprising assortment of automotive fasteners.

Re: Front fender side emblem questions.
I was able to install my emblems without removing the fenders by taking out the bottom bolt and wedging a block of wood between the fender and cab at the bottom. It's a stretch to get the top nuts on, but it can be done.

Re: Front fender side emblem questions.
They were used for installing chrome trim on cars with vinyl tops in areas were there was no rear access on the rear quarters , with a little effort they will pop back off , More than once you'll hear of someone forgetting to install the emblems before installing the fender and loosing access , they also work when you want to install another emblem after the car/truck is done just by drilling the correct holes popping in the barrel clips and pushing on the emblems .
