Blazer Bucket seats
So the other day a customer of mine offered to sell his factory low back bucket seats out of a 74 blazer for fairly cheap. He said he would have them next week and i said yes if they are what i think they are. So my question(s) are depending on condition (i was told they weren't perfect but decent) are they worth having? Do they bolt right in to a single cab (79), and if the foam is all there can upholsters make new foam and recover them? Also, if anyone has pictures of theses in trucks I would love to see them, preferably with a gm center console. google has failed me and i can't find many pictures. Even if there is an existing thread on this I would gladly appreciate the link, Thanks in advance.

Re: Blazer Bucket seats
Blazers floor plan is flat . Passenger seat tilts up . They will not fit in a pick up . I put suburban buckets in in my 78 .

Here's a good run down on the bucket seats. As was said, the floors are different. It's not a bolt in deal, but it is also not hard if you have the tracks and seat tabs. I had a set of blazer low backs in my 78 at one point. It has been a while, but I want to say I used the A shaped tabs from a suburban to account for the floor differences, and two sets of bench seat sliders to make both buckets adjustable. Check out user bigarmzz low back setup. While his are factory truck buckets (I think), the seat itself should give you an idea of the look. They look great. Speaking from experience though, one thing to think about is your own size. I'm six foot three, close to 300 pounds... While the bucket seat interior looked awesome, it wasn't comfortable for long trips or daily driving, at least not for me. I ended up swapping to a bench from a 99 Silverado. Hope this helps.

Cole, to answer your question, yes, I think they are worth having (price-dependent, of course). Prefer them to the high backs quite a bit. I've been hoarding a set myself (74 Blazer) for years as I prefer a bucket interior. I'm stuck with blazer bracketry also, but will find a way to make it work eventually. Sold the truck they were destined for, but am sure there will be another, ha. |

Re: Blazer Bucket seats
The seat brackets I used to mount Recaro's in my 77 came from Wedge.
http://wedgebrackets.com/chevrolet-g...-brackets.html Well worth the price in IMO. I had to drill one hole per side, fit damn near perfect. I'm sure with some mods these would work on factory buckets. |

Re: Blazer Bucket seats
Those are from a suburban but will work for a truck with slight bending of the rear mount.

Re: Blazer Bucket seats
Are you sure those suburban brackets will bolt to the bottom of the lowbacks? I know that can be made to mount to the pickup floors but I have seen different bolt patterns on the bottoms of different seats.

I also don't know about the later reclining buckets from around 87-91 in the suburbans. They might have yet another pattern on the bottom of the seat.

Re: Blazer Bucket seats
I have used suburban seat tracks in a 78 GMC. I bent the back mount to match the pickup floor and used the inner towers from the suburban. I found some nice low backs from a low mileage motor home and it only took a couple of holes to be drilled in the seat bottom to mount them up.
