1970 C20 differential swap

I have a 1970 C20 with a HO52 diff, I have a 1974 C20 donor truck with a 14 bolt leaf spring set up. Will the differential swap where I can use the leaf springs instead of the coil springs, without major modifications? I have not measured the frame yet. Still have to measure the width of the differential out of the 74 to see what difference's there are. Thoughts

Re: 1970 C20 differential swap

This is a fairly easy swap either way if you can cut and weld. They sell aftermarket brackets to weld on a donor housing to swap the 14 bolt in place of the HO axle.

Much more difficult to swap to leaf springs.

Re: 1970 C20 differential swap

The frame on your 70 is wider than the 74 frame because of the kick outs where the coil springs mount on the frame but a leaf sprung C model 67-72 frames are the same as coil frames if you want to convert it from coils to leafs just get the springs & spring hangers off a leaf sprung truck and bolt on yours you still might have to move the perches on the rear and relocate the shock mounts summit racing sells Currie shock mounts for $17.00 for a pair and they also sell new spring perches
