Oil Bath Air Cleaner
I was wondering, was the oil bath air cleaner an option?
My 64 K10 with the 292 has one and I believe it is original but I haven't seen many and was curious what they came on. Thanks |

Re: Oil Bath Air Cleaner
I have wondered the same thing. When my Suburban had the 292, it had a standard paper element air filter. But I haven't had the old 292 since 1987.

Re: Oil Bath Air Cleaner
All 60-66's had a heavy duty air filter option, which was an oil bath filter. 6's and V8's.

Re: Oil Bath Air Cleaner
As my 64 is Canadian built and I see that the other posters are from Canada I wonder if they were more prevalent in Canada?

Re: Oil Bath Air Cleaner
That could be. It might have taken us a little longer to come out of the dark ages. I think our competitor brand truck might have had one too on a 65. I was going to modify mine to accept a paper element but now I think will leave it as is.
As a kid I remember cleaning them on old tractors and getting up to a quarter inch of hard packed dirt off the bottom, so they do work. |
