Ebay craziness!

Every time I think I have seen the most crazy thing possible for our trucks on ebay, something new comes along. Auction is for an NOS "FUEL INJECTION" emblem that sticks on the tailgate of 1987 (and maybe 1988). It has more than 3 days to go and is currently at $520. I know it is NOS, but "come on man".

Re: Ebay craziness!

I guarantee this is being bid on from the Middle East. These guys have way more money than we do, $500 is pocket change to them. In fact, even though Ebay doesn't show the complete username of the bidders, one of the bidders username looks identical to someone that purchases items from me. They just bought several of my restored ashtrays, I have them listed in the for sale section of the forum and on Ebay. They buy off ebay also, because of the shipping. Ebay offers shipping discounts when items are shipped out of the country.

Not related to truck parts but since Im a comic book guy I was watching this auction-1st appearance of Wonder Woman-Dec-Jan 1941. Highest grade ever offered. Lots of people with BIG money on Ebay depending on what you have for sale.

I'd love a '67 Impala. Hopefully they don't buy those up before I get one

Re: Ebay craziness!

I look at this a little differently than some of you guys. I am not one to insult someone for paying good money for the parts they need. I am impressed that they care enough about these trucks to want only the best parts money can buy. You have to realize that we can find new NOS parts here in the states easier than they can. They have to buy parts and ship them in. They probably could get a better deal if they wait it out but when theres a part that several guys need the bidding can go up . They do not have the same access to parts as we have here but their passion for factory original trucks and trucks restored to OEM specs is impressive. They and many of us here in the states can appreciate a stock restoration. I personally love to see the trucks they have gathered up in other parts of the world. They are just beautiful trucks. If the prices that some of the parts are bringing is what it takes to make their trucks look like the do then so be it. Just be glad there are people out there that like our trucks as much as we do.

Re: Ebay craziness!

It is really hard here in Canada to find choice parts. I have paid $1500 for a K30 frame from New Mexico. Cabs here go for $1500 to $1800. Boxes $1500 to $2000. I have at least 4K into cab, frame, hood, fenders and doors before I even start the build. Recently I lucked out on the NOS Hood. I also found a large stock of army surplus 73 to 80 K20 stuff. Guages, door hinges, speedos, steering parts, cab mounts, front sway bars, fly window assemblies, steering shafts, dip sticks, round headlight assemblies, seat belts etc etc. You name it and I probably have it nos. Even around 30 pairs of windshield washer nozzles. LOL.

Re: Ebay craziness!

The good thing about all the rust around here is that Front Dana 60s and 14 bolts, Dana 70 HD are plentiful. I have 4 sets. 2 single wheel and 2 dually.

Re: Ebay craziness!

NOS items are getting scarce for our trucks. I bought a NOS hood from a member for $600. I wanted NOS for my truck, so I could get that cowl induction hood off of her. Paid $600 and gmachinz was nice enough to meet me part way for the meet since I was in Ohio, and he is in Iowa.

If you want it or need it, someone will pay it. And in my case, I don't regret it. Money well spent!!

Re: Ebay craziness!

Funny. The guy I got the NOS Hood from had saved it for years. And then decided to put a cowl hood on. LOL
