front floor support brace can this be welded?
I'm replacing the rockers and inner rockers on a k5 blazer. Part of my front floor support was rusted so I cut it out. I'm trying to patch the floor support. I've welded in a small patch as show in the photo and have a larger piece to complete it. I'm debating if I should try to save this or go with a new front floor support. My concern is getting into the joint and getting things misaligned. Your thoughts? Is patching this floor support going to work? Also if I decide to take the front floor support brace out what is the best way to remove it?

Re: front floor support brace can this be welded?
So the part in the picture you cut off is the cab support, they make replacement full supports or they make slip over cover braces for them. In your case I would get those slip overs, they are cheap and fit right over the others. Just drills some holes and plug weld them to the other brace and the floor. As far as the upper brace. You will have to drill out a number of spot welds, which can be done from inside the cab and underneath the firewall in the engine bay. Just make a cut across the support where you want to remove it at and drill all spot welds above your cut. If it were me while you are replacing all that, I'd get a new brace and full support jack up the cab and replace them. And new body mounts wouldn't be a bad thing at that time.

yep... what he said. Slip on is the way to go since what you have left is in good shape.
