Protecto Plate Rarity/Value?
I have a 72 Cheyenne K10 that came with the original Protecto Plate. Are Protecto Plates that rare? And does it actually increase the value of my truck at all if theyre that rare or not?
Thanks! |

Re: Protecto Plate Rarity/Value?
Probably not that rare, but most have been misplaced over the years and were not needed once the truck was out of the warranty period. Their real value is that they can be used to verify that the engine, transmission and axle are original to the truck. So, in that sense, they may add value to the truck, especially if the prospective buyer values originality. Below is a reverse image of mine. The engine code is at the top left, transmission code is at the lower left. VIN at the top right and axle code is at the lower right. For some reason the selling dealer put the mileage at delivery (00034) on mine rather that the delivery date.

Re: Protecto Plate Rarity/Value?
any authentic origonal documentation adds value to the vehicle. Protectoplate is just such documentation. Also it can help you to locate the origonal dealer or owner as well.
the question then becomes ... how much do you value such documentation. Its always nicer to have more rather than less. |
