Need Help identifying what trans cover I need
Hello,
I have an '82 C-10 SWB. Not sure what engine/trans was in it originally it now has a 350 CI (I believe) and a 3 speed automatic. When I got this truck everything that was done to it was poor quality and it was not from the person who did the swap. I'm in need of the transmission cover/inspection plate. Is it crazy of me to think the standard turbo 350 cover would work? Per the tranny shops I've talked with it is. Any suggestions in how to determine what I have/need would be appreciated. Thanks Bacca |

Re: Need Help identifying what trans cover I need
Hi. Well if it's a A/t trans most covers will fit I believe from 69 - 90
The 69-72 might not fit all the newer ones there mostly alum and steel. The 73-74 most where steel. The 75-90 mostly plastic have two styles may need different holes made hold the corners. trans 200th,250th,350th.

Re: Need Help identifying what trans cover I need
Pontiac 1976 I need to make a clarification. I'm looking for info on the cover that covers the flywheel/torque converter.
Thanks for for the confusion. |

Re: Need Help identifying what trans cover I need
How is anyone going to be able to tell you what you need when your not even sure what you have?
If it helps, pretty sure a flexplate/dust cover from a TH350 fits most pre '95 GM transmissions. |

Quote:
How about you post a picture of the transmission pan and we can tell you what it is. Post a picture of the engine as well if you want, but all we can confirm is that it's a smallblock (if it is). If you can find casting numbers on it you will be able to search online to find out its original displacement. In my experience the inspection covers are the same or very similar and chances are a cover from a TH350 will do the trick. |

Re: Need Help identifying what trans cover I need
LT7A thanks.
I guess what I'm asking is don't most Turbo 350 tranny use the same inspection cover. I thought so but the 2 tranny shops I talked to told me otherwise. I was hoping someone could confirm either the tranny shops or my belief before purchasing the wrong part. Bacca |
