Shock Torque Specs Confirmation
Was reassembling and torquing down the rear suspension on the C10 and just can't get over the torque specs for the shocks ... 130-150 ft. lb. for the upper eye and 55-75 ft. lb. for the lower. The upper mounts were pinching the heck out of the bushings and I still had a ways to go, so I stopped and moved on because it just didn't feel right. I know they're book torque specs, but would feel better if I heard from others confirming they ratchet down that much on the shocks.

Ya that does "seem" rather high but thats what the chassis torque specs show. 1/2" grade 8 fasteners torque at 90 foot pounds and 5/8" grade 8 are 159/180 ft lbs. So I guess they're using the 5/8 size fasteners? Maybe someone in engineering can assist.

Re: Shock Torque Specs Confirmation
I think that spec is for the big nut on the back side of the upper shock mount stud and no the nut that goes on the shock end.

Re: Shock Torque Specs Confirmation
Thanks for the replies. I started cranking down to spec and it looked so bad I backed off and tightened all to 45 ft. lb. I did a little reading and it appears there's 2 bushing styles and I'm pondering if the previous owner installed shocks with the non-stock style bushing, hence the brackets pinching like heck.
