Well .... I can't take the credit for the " socks on a duck " saying. I am a 4th generation bodyman and that was my grandpas saying ... he was fun to be around . BUT ....that is what that crap fit like . I love it when you see ad that says no bondo , bull . Never seen a restored vehicle in the last 20 years that has NO bondo . As far as lead goes , I haven't been able to fine 70/30 lead for 20 years , they went to the 60/40 ( which sucked ) . So we quit using lead and went to all fiberglass and bondo , or some metal guys hate that term . In todays world we are not bodymen anymore , we are I-Car certified techs .....woooopy ...still bondo ....lol.... ooooops my attitude is showing . All in fun , jyd

Thank you all for the compliments on the bed . Hope the cab turns out as well .The color is Signal Red , color code 544 for a 69 Chev truck . Our local NAPA store sells PPG Ditzler paint , the paint rep said PPG DBC base coat would run $210.00 a gal , or they could mix base coat in the PPG Omni line for $85.00 a gal . Being the tight a** I am of course I went for the Omni line . When I opened the can , it was way to red . They checked the color shades between DBC and Omni and found 2 total diff colors , so they took a computerized picture of the glove box and found the color to be same shade as DBC , they tinted the Omni paint to match the DBC . We have several 67 - 72 truck lovers here , half say the color is right and half say it is too orange. Personally , I think it is too orange too , BUT , I am not going to repaint it . Kinda sucks , cause all the time and labor I have tied up in this truck , I wanted it to be exact original , cause I am planning on selling it when done . Soooooooo ...... my advice to anyone , is spend the extra for the DBC . True Signal Red , is kinda like orange with blood red floating in it , kinda changes tint . Oh well , I am off to work on the cab ...... jyd

No , they have not had lacquer paint for some time now . Omni is PPG's cheap line of base coat . I have learned through my paint rep that the reason it is cheaper , it has less paint pigment and more base hider , which is why the colors are not as brilliant . After they tint it , they can get it real close . I will still use Omni on used cars and economical paint jobs , just not on serious paint jobs. Ty for the compliment , I try to do the best I can ... jyd
