Tail gate removal
Hello to all.
I cannot recall the position the tail gate needs to be in for removal. Please help. |

Re: Tail gate removal
You need to remove the two bolts from the trunnion at one end. Then, if you lift that end and trunnion carefully upward, you will be able to pull the tailgate and trunnion rearward then remove the tailgate from the opposing trunnion. The "detachable" tailgates did not appear until the square body era. Not sure if it was 1973 or later.

Re: Tail gate removal
Speaking of this is it possible to modify on end of the tailgate to make it removable like the later square body gates ? Has anyone done or tried this ?
