Looking for a local shop for trans swap
I am wanting to have a overdrive trans installed. I have decided on a 4l80e with the TCI EZ controller. I'm currently located in Towanda PA. Anyone know of a local shop within a hour or two that can source a good trans and do the swap for me? Thanks for any help!

Re: Looking for a local shop for trans swap
Thanks for the response! I should update my signature. In the last 4 weeks I've installed a blueprint 383. I want to go the 4l80e route because of its tuning capabilities with the tci unit. Also I really want something that has lock up so that I can have a high stall without loosing the ability to have good hwy manners.

Re: Looking for a local shop for trans swap
The TH200 4R has lockup capability. And you don't have to spend thousands of dollars on the controller. A built, 500hp TH200 4R can be had for under $3k. While the 4L80E and controller is something like $7500?
FWIW, I am buying an Extreme Automatics TH200 4R to put behind the 427 big block in my 69 short step.

The tci controller is onlying 700. Look up the YouTube video about all the settings it's very adjustable. No kick down cable either

Re: Looking for a local shop for trans swap
You will love OD no matter which way you go. If you find a clean, low mileage 4L80E from a wrecking yard and the controller only $700 that seems like a viable choice.
But IMO, the gear ratios, size, mechanical speedo, of the TH200 4R is the best choice for me. Good luck with your truck I look forward to seeing which way you went. FWIW, I wouldn't even consider a TH700R4. I absolutely DESPISE the 1-2 drop in that trans. Now a 6 speed....

Re: Looking for a local shop for trans swap
Hope I don't seem hard headed. I considered a 700/200r4 but the lockup has to be on a switch if you want it to lockup under OD. This is my wife's truck and I don't want her to be worried about anything besides driving it. That tci controller will lock up above X speed and unlock at wot. It also has automatic control over how firm the shifts are in "normal" and in "performance" modes. Also it would work well with Dakota digital gauges with the 100$ module that sends information such as Trans temp and VSS.
Does $600 for labor seem hi to do the swap? Thanks for everyone's input!

Re: Looking for a local shop for trans swap
I wouldn't do it for $600. Not if it meant all of the work involved. Moving mounts, wiring, measuring and getting a driveshaft, etc. So sounds like a good deal to me.
