Original style fuel tanks for Suburban/Panel?
Trying to find a source for an original-style fuel tank and straps, for a '55-'59 Suburban or 1/2-ton panel.
LMC and Brothers show nothing, and I didn't have any luck in the rest of my searches. Lots of these trucks have been restored, so what's everyone using? -Brad

Re: Original style fuel tanks for Suburban/Panel?
That Carid tank is still wrong tank. It still is for behind seat in cab of regular pick up.
Working on a 56 panel truck for my buddy - model 3105 - and found factory GM part # in assy manual but no luck locating one so he sent original tank out somewhere. They cut it open, cleaned and coated - then also coated outside. Looks great!! Watch out as fuel pick up / sender is also different. My buddy purchased one - and feed to line is going opposite way - and if rotated holes will not line up and float will hit baffle in tank. So another project to cut, rotate and solder back together - including float mount. Fall Carlisle in 2 weeks - maybe one there for sale?? Should check Craigslist PA to see. Good Luck !! Oh - and the straps I was able to make work from new units from Advanced Auto Parts. Just matched length, width, etc. One required cutting off folded end and refolding / drilling hole to bolt back to frame. Can try to find the part #s I ordered if you need them. Just let me know.
