Weekend Project - Fuel Tank and Steering Column
I received a rebuilt steering column from Kev's Classics and a an OEM fuel tank from Classic Industries. I will be replacing both this weekend and wanted to know if anyone has any advice, do's or don'ts for these projects. Thanks for the help.

The fuel filler rubber hose is not easy. Be patient, get a new hose, and review your cuss word inventory- you'll need it.

Re: Weekend Project - Fuel Tank and Steering Column
The gas tank install is much easier with the seat out.
Us old guys forget how stuff goes back together so take pictures of how the original column is installed before taking it apart. Replace rag joint. |

Re: Weekend Project - Fuel Tank and Steering Column
When unbolting the rag joint from the steering box - completely remove the bolt, don't just loosen it. Sometimes the bolt itself without any tension on it is enough to keep the rag joint stuck on the splines.
