New Truck

Got a new project for myself today. It's a 1960 GMC short box fleetside. I know next to nothing about these years. Just out of curiosity is this a desirable year and combo options? Going to need a lot of work to get going and running but should be a fun project.

Re: New Truck

Shortbed fleetsides have always been a desirable combo to the most people, so not a bad first project choice. The X frame and torsion bars are a little more difficult to deal with if you plan on modifications. A Canadian built GMC is really just a rebadged Chevy. You'll either have the straight six or V8, not the V6 that is found in American built '60 GMC's.

Who cares if it's "desireable"? Do YOU like it? Nothing else matters, unless you're planning on flipping the truck.

Love the truck, by the way.

Re: New Truck

Fixed your original post picture. So is the truck pulling the tractor or vice versa?

Haha yeah thanks for fixing.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'm definitely not buying to sell it so the options don't matter. Just curious.

The truck last had plates in 79. She's been sitting for a long time so it was a good feeling pulling her out with the tractor!

Re: New Truck

I've got rust above the windshield on the cab. Looks like LMC has a replacement panel though? Cabs like that worth salvaging or should I be looking for a better cab?

Re: New Truck

Depends on your skills and how extensive the rust.

Re: New Truck

Start looking the whole cab over before you decide.
Also, shop around for better prices than LMC.
Top Banana and Classic Parts of America are a couple other suppliers.
