2002 to 2006 seat interchange

Have been doing some searching on updating the bench seat in my 1986 pick up. Read where the 92 style seat go in but have to do quite a bit of reworking on the tracks. Has anybody used the 2002 style seat or the same problem. They are extremely comfortable maybe there is something else that someone has used.

Re: 2002 to 2006 seat interchange

I put the bench from a 99 Tahoe in mine. It should be the same as what your asking for. It's probably the most comfortable of the 3 or 4 seat combos I've used over the years. I believe all I used was the a shaped tabs up front and bent the rear of the brackets to fit the floor.

Re: 2002 to 2006 seat interchange

biggest problem with retrofitting the newer seats in older trucks is Chevy went to the flat floor in 88 with the new models. so most seats are going to require some fabrication of mounts into the 87 and older trucks

Re: 2002 to 2006 seat interchange

I have been eying some 2002 seats too. They are leather buckets with the built in arm rest and seat belt. They look to me like they would fit, with some mods of course. I probably won't bite this time around but they sure got me thinking again.

I used seats out of an early 90's Cadillac DeVille. They fit in our trucks as if they were made for them.

Wow, I never thought those would fit in there. I always said the seats in my 92 Deville were the most comfortable I ever sat in. I have a set too but in the wrong color.

I like the shoulder belts in the 2002 seats because my truck doesn't have shoulder belts.

This is interesting - my pop had an early 70's Caddy that had the most comfortable rear seat - and one of the most comfortable chairs of any type - I ever sat on.

I have a passing fantasy of trying to find one and fitting it into a C10.

Yes they are extremely comfortable, low back and good for long trips. The width is slightly incorrect for use as a bench seat but they can be easily converted to bucket seats by removing the center section out. They then are the perfect width for using a center console or use in a Blazer or Suburban.

I used the same thing around 1994 seats. Had to make custom brackets but they fit well and are super comfortable

Re: 2002 to 2006 seat interchange

I have installed a 1996 Silverado seat in my 65 Pickup and it was a breeze. Outside bolt holes were exact but it was a 60/40 split so had to drill my own inner mounts. They are a real nice seat as well.

Cadillac seats don't usually fold forward. I'll have to see how far they can recline forward. From my research the 90's truck sets seem to be the best fit. They fold forward and give some head/neck protection.

The 2 door eldorado seats do fold forward. Quite a few of them around. Super comfortable and look like they are meant to fit in a square

Re: 2002 to 2006 seat interchange

I swapped out the bench seat for some seats out of a 01 or 02 Silverado into our '69, primarily for the shoulder belts but also the comfy/cupholder/console benefits.

As I recall, I had to drill holes in the middle of the cab floor for the inside seat rails and the console, then stacked washers under a couple of the front corners to level it all up.

One thing - The new seats moved me a tiny bit up and closer to the steering wheel, enough that the original manual steering wheel was right in my lap. I've since replaced it with a later/smaller wheel with power steering, so it's all good now - they fit, although I can't move them any farther back because of (1) the gas tank, and (2) the headrests would be hard up against the rear glass.

BE SURE and use at least Grade 8 bolts and LARGE washers under the floorpan - you don't want that seat pulling out in a crash.

I had a 90 coupe deville..Those seats were super comfortable. I often wondered if they would fit in my truck.
