66 GMC - Newbie

Hey guys, wanted to introduce myself. I'm the proud new owner of 66 GMC. I've been looking for a toy for many years. Although I wanted to do a complete resto, work, kids and life just won't permit. So I stumbled upon a mostly restored '66. I picked it up a few weeks ago and started by installing an AAW wiring kit and slowly bringing the bells an whistles back to life (accessories, heat, etc). It's got a 383 mated to a 400 tranny. 8 bolt rear. Runs and drives great. I've been reading through all of the threads schooling myself up for all of the little tweaks I've been making. Look forward to many years of learning on this board. Attached is the best photo I have at the moment, but more to come.

Welcome to the board. What are your plans for the truck?

Thank you!

The wiring was a mess when I got it, so that was the first thing I did over 2 weekends. Its also not turning over after it heats up, so I've searched these boards and settled on heat soak with the starter. I ordered one of those mini starters everyone recommended. Hoping that solves the problem. Once she cools down, she fires right up.

Short term I'd like to get the heat working, install some tunes and relocate the fuel tank under the bed. The truck runs strong, so I'm not planning on touching the motor other than plugs, filters, wires.

Other than that I want to drive it (weather permitting). I didn't want a truck that I was afraid to use.

Cool, does your truck have headers? Then that maybe your problem.
